Welcome to Eskdale MTB
Without doubt the Lake District offers the best Mountain Biking experience in England. However away from the trail centres finding the best rides can sometimes be a bit tricky. Difficult route finding, non-existent bridleways, hike-a-bike routes and high exposed mountain ridges all lay in wait for the unsuspecting. Unfortunately this means that riders sometimes go home disappointed, or shy away from the more epic rides.
Eskdale MTB wants riders to maximise their mountain biking holiday in the Lakes by experiencing these “off the beaten track” rides, following sheep tracks across high moorland plateaus, ancient packhorse passes, riding to summmits with 50 mile views in every direction followed by a 3000 foot downhill. It doesn’t get any better, with us providing the guiding, safety equipment and experience, all you need to do is concentrate on the views and the riding ! If you have the energy, we’ll take you there.
Based in the beautiful but quiet valley of Eskdale, there are bridleways heading out in all directions from our doorstep. The neighbouring valley of Duddon has even more super technical trails and legendary routes such as Walna Scar and Stephenson Ground. A few miles south and you can try your hand at your first summit, with Black Combe rising to 2000 feet with incredible views across the mountains and sea.
Our guide is qualified by the SMBLA to their highest level (MBL), with almost 20 years experience of riding the high Lake District trails. He is just as happy taking you along some long forgotten lanes as he is riding across the summit ridge of Helvellyn.
